2023 Denmark

01-10 JUN 2023 – my first trip to Denmark. My friend Lexie came and played tour guide for me, and we met up with our mutual friend Melina and her husband Niels (who is Danish). I was impressed by how many urban sketches I fit into this trip. I was very proud of Lexie also trying out some urban sketching. Enjoy,

Antvorskov Monastery in Slagelse, Denmark. It’s the Nordic HQ for The Order of St John.
Kronberg Castle, Helsingør, Denmark (inspiration/ home of Shakespeare’s story of Hamlet)
The Marble Church, Copenhagen. The Twelve Apostles are painted in the dome.
Nyhavn, Copenhagen – this took about 1.5hrs, and was definitely a memorable evening.

Melina’s husband Niels was the only Dane among us, and provided a quick and handy source of answering many questions.
I was so happy with our trip that I made a trip montage painting, which isn’t something I usually do. I really enjoyed this artistic exercise.
