Family Reunion Family History Booklets

Arave, 2014

This booklet was a collaboration between my Grandfather, Alvin Arave, who had a great amount of family history knowledge; and my mother, Christine A. Quinn, who drew the coloring page portraits from ancestor photos. The design was to make an interactive booklet appropriate to engage children in learning their family history, but also contain information relevant and interesting to their parents too. The book accompanied an outing to several family cemeteries and historic sites in Idaho. The total project is 16 spreads, black and white print, with vellum printed cover, 8.5 x 5.5″ – print of at least 100.

An example of the interactive nature of this book. The left page is to fill in your personal family tree, color the tree, and then use the stickers on the right to add to the extended family heritage trees.

qUINN, 2015

The Arave Reunion booklet was such a success that a variation of it was made the next year for the Quinn Family Reunion – specifically to highlight Grandma Quinn’s life and actions as a girl up through high school graduation. This project was designed to present stories and history that may positively influence her great-grandchildren. Below is just a portion of the project. The color book drawings were done by my mother, Christine A. Quinn, and I did the rest of the formatting and print. The final product is 8.5 x 5.5″ Click each image to further explore.
