2022 August: A two week trip to London and North Yorkshire yielded some great opportunities to urban sketch. I made a new smaller paint kit in a small Altoid tin, which worked well. This trip was extra special in that I got to sketch with my mum.

07 AUG 22 – St Paul’s London – interior while we listened to an organ concert (organ and organist on the left)08 AUG 22 – National Gallery London George Stubb’s “Whistlejacket” on the far left.09 AUG 22 – Millennium Bridge London – one of my favorite iconic views in the city. Drawn from the South side of the Thames (Tate Modern side) looking at St Paul’s Cathedral.09 AUG 22 – Globe Theater London. An iconic place where I fell in love with Shakespeare in 2009 after being marred in high school by Macbeth. We watched a modern take on The Tempest.11 AUG 22 – V&A London – View from the courtyard. It was incredibly hot outside and I just go the basics in before closing time, so the rest was finished outside of this location.10 AUG 22 – My map of the City of Bath according to the places we visited. It was only a day trip from London, so we couldn’t go everywhere…14 AUG 22 – Leeds, England. Roundhay Park is my best friend’s happy place, so we spent a hot afternoon there after attending church in Leeds. My favorite part of the park is the folly. If I had a giant garden-park I would have a folly. 16 AUG 22 – Whitby Abbey in Whitby. SO ICONIC. One of our fav days on the trip. Mum and I got to sketch together at this location. This is the view from our accommodation at Yew Tree Barn on the Riseborough Estate in rural North Yorkshire. It’s farm country!18 AUG 22 – Our last day in North Yorkshire. We had fun at the Burton-Agnes Hall and there was a little village church next door, which we sketched and then went inside and toured.
